The Bard's Tale App Reviews

Fun!

Fun and challenging game. I wish there were more save points. I wasted a lot of time running back to save, or replaying parts because i died. Give this a try if you liked oceanhorn.

Highly recommended

A 4 out of 5? Sure, but an enthusiastic one! This is a bit clunky on an iPhone 6 - it FEELS like an older port, and some things like the difficulty (impossibility?) to delete old saves or save on demand do not translate well, and the inelegant hack n slash hasnt aged well. Youll want to replay different choices to see the consequences of snarky vs saintly choices (sometimes a saucy tongue gets an equally saucy reward, sometimes a punishing side quest) and you cant easily. BUT people are enthusiastic about this game for a reason. The quality of the voices, the fun of the dialogue and the sarcasm/parody elements are top notch and a cut above most of its kin. The narrator and the antihero snark back and forth. The songs of this older game are still fondly referenced on the Internet for good reason. Im grateful for this port, in an era of cheap, quickly thrown together games, this is great value for a very low price quite unlike much of whats out there. Kudos for including the even older games this game (unofficially) references - even though they demand far more dedication than the average modern player would want to invest, its a classy option to have.

The bard never plays a sour note

As always, the bards tale lives up to the expectations ! Quality writing and humor.

Best game on IOS

I was reluctant to pay for a game but Im glad I did. This turned out to be one of my all-time favorite games on any platform, and the best on iOS, hands-down. The balance between too challenging and fun is perfect, the balance between side quests and dungeon crawler action is ideal, the writing is phenomenal, and Cary Elwes as the Bard couldnt be better. Highly recommended for fans of RPG games.

Outstanding

A really great game. Takes ya back to when time was taken to create a quality experience.

Great Game, Great Writing

Great role playing game. Excellent writing, voice acting and cut-screen videos. I spent nearly 50 hours playing and was constantly intrigued by what would come next. I got stuck a couple times, but there is superb walkthrough on web that covers all platforms including IOS that game has been ported to.

Perfect !!!

Honestly I cant play any other game the same way again , plz make it longer though

Would be a rather dated game on the pc but has new life on mobile.

A good game. The play mechanics lend themselves well to mobile and it feels like an actual game as opposed to the usual in-game-purchase bait most mobile games are.

Glitched - wont save.

Great game if you could only save your progress. Files are always corrupt. Wish developer would fix this after so many years.

Love it

Reminds me of Diablo 1

Funny fun game

Good RPG. Silly situations and good combat. A great buy

Fun, whimsical

Ill talk about the remake (snarky hero version) first: I think this game is quite fun. Great humor, well written dialogue! Ive heard that as a computer game, the remake was panned. It certainly seems thin and simple in gameplay compared to other RPGs like Baldurs Gate or the Elder Scrolls series, and I think it wouldve fallen flat on a computer, but for an iPhone game it feels like just the right amount of complexity. For an app, very very good and Id recommend it to people wanting to play an RPG on their phone or tablet! As for the three original games: the port to an iOS format works, but its clunky. The original games were made to play with only a keyboard, and this port combines keypad with tapping buttons. Im not the sort that enjoys drawing my own maps and taking quest notes for my RPGs, so I didnt get very far in the game itself, but Ive heard from those who do that the three Bards Tales are classic and among the best of the old school RPGs (and I do mean old school, 1980s Apple computer style. Just so you know what youre getting into!)

The classic you remembered

Just as good as the original. Save issues reported from others earlier have been fixed!

i canT downlord

i bought this game some year ago, but i repurchase it now, i cant downlord!!! you fix error plz

Gr8 Story-Buggy Game

I like the storyline and the humor, although I see where people are coming from who have criticized it for being sexist. My only complaint has been the bugs in the auto-save. It is frustrating to play for several hours and then get an error message that the saved chapter is corrupt and needs to be deleted. There is a workaround that involves deleting the app and then reinstalling it. Then you can resume play. An even better solution is to disable auto-save. When I did that I stopped having the corrupt file issue.

Doodly do!

This is by far my favorite game on the iPad. It has a Diablo feel to it, but the game is so funny. Its like a spoof of RPGs. The main character comments on funny video game things like the fact that wolves drop money and magical items when he kills them, and he often makes snarky comments to people he talks to that break the fourth wall. Great writing and funny alternate endings. Be warned, tho. There are a bunch of musical numbers throughout the game sung by random goblin quartets that will get stuck in your head for days after. Its bad luck to be you, doodly do!

what a old game!? apple ][

이건 정말 ios rpg로서는 최고!

DO YOU LIKE PORN? YOU MIGHT LIKE THIS GAME!

I cant say much with authority when it comes to this game. I can say it made me feel dirty. The entire first mission is based on the fact that an NPC has boobs. Apparently the protagonist is a bit perverse. And annoying. I cant stand him. I see now why Gordon Freeman not saying anything was considered a big plus.

I love it!

It sat on my phone forever and finally broke down and played it. Such a wonderful freaking game. It was worth the time and money.

Dont buy=robbery.Really? Seized up after level 6?

Great it was half price, because it locked up in a cut scene for "Higland park" - more correctly, I used save point after entering park- exited game and every attempt to restart since gives me cut scene and no on screen controls. Bugger off.
